Our very own Mick McGuane, is set to take charge of his 300th Senior Men’s Premier Division game, on Saturday 17th August, when we host Greenvale Football Club in Round 17 EDFL action.
He will be the first coach in League history, to ever achieve this huge milestone, not to mention the hundreds of Junior games coached over the last 16 year period at the Keilor Football Club.
Mick started out at Keilor in 2008, coming off successful stints at Gisborne, Burnie, Balwyn & a period of time with St Kilda at AFL level.
2008 saw a Senior Men’s Premiership down at Joe Brown Oval in what seemed incredibly unlikely circumstances, beating a previously 2 year undefeated Greenvale in the Grand Final.
Success followed in 2016, 2019 & an undefeated Premiership in 2023.
Over the years, Mick has dedicated his life and time to the Keilor Football Club, coaching many years of Junior Football from U10 – U16, Senior Thirds & U18 matches, as well as many hours supporting all those who wear our Blue, White & Red.
There is, still a lot to play out in season 2024 as our Senior Men’s side look to go back-to-back for the first time in Mick’s career at Keilor, so this milestone comes at a pivotal time of the year.
Please join us on Saturday 17th August, as we celebrate our Head Coach before, during and post game, as we also will use this as a Past Players Day and encourage all past Keilor players, supporters and coaches to come along and enjoy.
This will also be the final time our beloved Sports Club will be available as you know it, with works beginning on October 1st on a major renovation that will see the Sports Club revamped to accommodate for future generations.
